The Mules came back from Friday’s Loss by beating New Madrid Country Central 80-60 tonight. Leading scorer for the Mules tonight was Willie Lucas with 26 points. Lucas also had 9 rebounds went 9 of 17 from the field and 5 of 9 from three point range.

Hardimon finished with a double double tonight as he had 21 points and 11 rebounds. Rodney Houston finished with 15 points, 4 assist and went 6/10 shooting from the field. The Mules cut their turnovers tonight to only 12 after having 19 on Friday night and out rebounded New Madrid Country Central 39 to 25. The Mules still need to improve their free throw shooting percentage as they only made 16 out of 33 tonight. That can really hurt you in a close ball game.

Leach was out tonight with some back spasms but should return Friday night. The Mules face what will probably be their toughest game of the year so far vs Sikeston on Friday night. Sikeston is ranked as the number 1 team in the state of Missouri right now and since they were off tonight they will most likely remain their on Friday. Sikeston is a tough team and they will come out swinging. Cape did that on Friday and got up on the Mules quickly and they never let up. Tonight the Mules played a much tougher brand of basketball and were able to take the physical aggression of New Madrid and keep scoring.  Friday night they will need to do the same thing because i expect Sikeston to come in punching and the Mules certainly have the talent to beat Sikeston. They just need to be mentally tough and keep working on the turn overs and work on increasing their free throw percentage to beat them and setup the rest of the year.
