June 23, 2017, St. Louis Region – Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Illinois presents the annual All-American Hot Rod Showdown on Saturday, July 22. The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event features $20-per-car load admission, fireworks, Jet Cars, 280-mph Funny Cars, nitromethane-burning Dragsters, a pre-1970 car cruise and show and the 10 o’clock t-shirt toss.

 

Saturday’s popular $20-per-car load admission includes everyone you can stuff into your vehicle — leave the SmartCar at home and load up mom’s mini-van with all your friends instead. Trackside tailgating is first-come, first-served.

 

EVENT SCHEDULE

Thursday, July 20

Noon-10 p.m. — Credentials and parking open.

1-8 p.m. — NHRA technical inspection and registration.

5-10 p.m. — Test ‘n’ Tune (operated by GMP).

 

Friday, July 21

7 a.m. — Pit gates, credentials and pit parking open.

8:30 a.m. — Spectator parking and West Grandstands open.

9 a.m.-7 p.m. — Time trials and qualifying. Order: SST, Stock, SG, SC.

3 p.m. — Spectator access to pit area opens.

3 p.m. and 8 p.m. — Top Dragster qualifying.

3:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. — Comp qualifying.

4 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. — Top Sportsman qualifying. (Longest burn-out awarded during 8:45 p.m. session).

5:30 p.m. — DRAW/RFC Super Shootouts.

6 p.m. — First round of Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car qualifying.

7 p.m. — Stock and Super Stock Showdown.

9 p.m. — Second round of Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car qualifying and longest burn-out contest).

10 p.m. — 10 o’clock t-shirt toss, track closed.

 

Saturday, July 22 — ALL-AMERICAN HOT ROD SHOWDOWN: $20 PER CAR LOAD ADMISSION

7 a.m. — Pit gates open.

7 a.m.-Noon — Credentials and pit parking open; Tech inspection.

8:30 a.m. — Spectator parking and West Grandstands open.

9 a.m.-Noon — Time trials and qualifying. Order: SST, Stock, SG, SS, SC — one session.

Noon — Final qualifying for Top Dragster, Comp, Top Sportsman.

1:30 p.m. — First round of eliminations for SST, Stock, SG, SS, SC.

4 p.m. — First round of eliminations for Top Dragster, Comp, Top Sportsman.

5-9 p.m. — Classic hot rod and muscle car show and cruise. Open only to pre-1970, U.S.-manufactured cars.

6:30 p.m. — Pre-race ceremonies, national anthem.

7 p.m. — First round of eliminations for Top Alcohol Funny Car and Top Alcohol Dragster.

8 p.m. — Jet Dragster exhibition.

10 p.m. — 10 o’clock t-shirt toss.

10:30 p.m. — All final rounds of eliminations.

10:45 p.m. — Fireworks, Jet Dragster.

11 p.m. — Fan giveaways and  victory lane photos.

 

ENTRY FEES:

Car and driver: $160.

Thursday Test ‘n’ Tune: $80.

Three-day restricted-area crew pass: $60.

Friday-Saturday restricted-area crew pass: $50.
